Another Pinterest idea

I LOVE Pinterest! I found yet another idea for something fun for us. We had Peeps s'mores for dessert tonight and they were DELICIOUS!

Our Peeps

We decided to just cook them tonight instead of making a fire. I'd say it worked just as well.

"Cheese! Now let me eat!!"

Hot air balloon!

Yesterday, Brian and I were at home while Kayleigh was at school, and while I was doing something in the dining room, I kept hearing a wooshing sound.  At first I thought it was the washing machine, so I went out to the garage to listen for the sound again, but didn't hear anything.  Then, I figured it must have been the neighbors pressure washing outside (they've been doing that recently).  I kept looking around to see if I could see someone working, but no one was outside.  I tried not to worry about it, and a few minutes later I saw the mail lady dropping off some mail.  I went outside to get it, and when I turned to come back in, I saw a hot air balloon!  The wooshing was the fire to keep the balloon in the air.  I ran inside to get Brian and my camera.  At first Brian wasn't too keen on a huge balloon flying around our neighborhood, so we went inside.  We could see the balloon from our dining room window, and when Brian would see it above the tree line he would say, "Let's see the balloon!  Hurry Mom!  Let's go outside!"  We kept doing that until I guess the balloon landed, since eventually we didn't see it rise above the tree line.

After picking Kayleigh up and getting in the car at the end of her school day, she asked if we had seen a hot air balloon.  I thought maybe Brian had said something to her, but no.  One of her teachers saw it and let the kids go outside for a peek.  She said it was a different one, because the one Brian and I saw was rainbow colored, and Kayleigh said the one she saw was blue and white.  We hope that we'll get to see some more soon!

Jacksonville and the Zoo

Last week for Spring Break, I took the kids over to Jacksonville so we could finally meet Alex and hang out with the rest of the Wurdemans for a night. Valerie and Matt have a membership to the Jacksonville Zoo, so she suggested that we meet there and hang out for the day.  We all had fun seeing the animals, but the kids especially liked riding on the train.  We hope to do it again with Erik, but not until it starts to cool off in the fall!

Kayleigh finally got her hands on Alex!  (We're waiting for our second train ride.)

I guess the grass tastes better on the other side of the fence!

Matt cleaned off the porch before we came so we could have a picnic outside for dinner.  The kids enjoyed it so much that we were back out for breakfast the next morning!

Happy early St. Patrick's Day!

I have to post early because of the craziness going on at Kayleigh's school today. Some leprechauns came to the school and took over the classrooms! They made a MESS!!

I don't usually keep a camera with me, but at the last minute I grabbed it so I could get a picture of Kayleigh with her green hair.  We were running a little late, so I had decided to take a picture of Kayleigh in front of her school.  I was SO glad I had my camera with me!!

What we saw when we first got in.

 The dolls were taken hostage.

They made a mess playing with paint!

But at least they didn't have an accident!

Here is Kayleigh in her green shirt with green hair.

Kayleigh's friends were so excited wanting to know how her hair got green.

Diaper cradle

I just made this little diaper cradle/bassinet for a shower I'm going to this weekend.  I found my inspiration on Pinterest, my favorite new website for when I need ideas.  This was super easy, especially with the sewing machine making the hems.  It's far from perfect, but I'm quite pleased with this as my first one.

T-Ball

Kayleigh started TBall last weekend.  She is on the Red Sox with her buddy Jack.  The season is only 6 weeks long, and each Saturday they have practice and then the game.  This is a non-competitive league, which means there is only one inning, and each kid gets to hit and run around the bases and everyone gets to play in the outfield with their team.  It is semi-organized chaos, but oh so fun to watch!

Kayleigh was the last person to hit on her team this weekend, meaning she automatically hit a homerun since all of the kids get to run around the bases.  Here is a link to her time at bat:

Post overload!

So, my blog has not been letting me publish or even save my posts, so I am going to do a huge one today.  You'll have to bear with me and enjoy!

Post #1:  I know the last post was about food, but here is another one.  Erik was gone again one day last week (or was it the week before?!?!) and on those days I don't really cook dinner.  I told the kids that we were going to eat octopus.  Kayleigh did NOT like hearing me say that, and was pleasantly surprised with what she saw on her plate when it was finally presented.  I have to tell you that I remember this from when one of my elementary teachers did it with my class.

Post #2:  Kayleigh wanted Brian and her to wear the same thing one day, so she chose their Gap shirts and khakis for the two of them.  Please don't mind her hair--that's her thing and I'll let her have it however she wants...when we're at home.  :)

Post #3:  Super-cool super heroes!  Need I say more??

Post #4:  Here's another reason why I don't post as much as I should.  I have to fight two kids for the computer!  This is Brian playing Boowa and Kwala. ( www.uptoten.com if you're interested)

Post #5:  Last Friday was the Fairy Tale ball at Kayleigh's school.  They all got to dress up and have a little dance.  I was laughing to myself because Kayleigh had to dance with a boy from another class, and they looked so awkward.  I thought, "Well, Kayleigh just got her first awkward dance out of the way!"  They had a lot of fun, and Brian couldn't wait to get in on the action!

Kayleigh asked me later, "Why was I standing like that??"  I don't know, Kayleigh.

Post #6:  Kayleigh wanted to play tea party upstairs in her room when I realized that we had real tea downstairs.  We gathered all of her tea party stuff and headed down for a "real" one.  I cut up bananas and grapes and we also had some Craisins to snack on with our tea.  We said only big boys and girls could come to the tea party and they had to be polite.  We emphasized the big boys and girls part because Brian started potty training this week!!!  YIPPEE!!!  He's doing really well with just a couple of accidents a day.  I'll take that, especially since I didn't think he would ever want to potty train.
