Happy early St. Patrick's Day!

I have to post early because of the craziness going on at Kayleigh's school today. Some leprechauns came to the school and took over the classrooms! They made a MESS!!

I don't usually keep a camera with me, but at the last minute I grabbed it so I could get a picture of Kayleigh with her green hair.  We were running a little late, so I had decided to take a picture of Kayleigh in front of her school.  I was SO glad I had my camera with me!!

What we saw when we first got in.

 The dolls were taken hostage.

They made a mess playing with paint!

But at least they didn't have an accident!

Here is Kayleigh in her green shirt with green hair.

Kayleigh's friends were so excited wanting to know how her hair got green.

Diaper cradle

I just made this little diaper cradle/bassinet for a shower I'm going to this weekend.  I found my inspiration on Pinterest, my favorite new website for when I need ideas.  This was super easy, especially with the sewing machine making the hems.  It's far from perfect, but I'm quite pleased with this as my first one.

T-Ball

Kayleigh started TBall last weekend.  She is on the Red Sox with her buddy Jack.  The season is only 6 weeks long, and each Saturday they have practice and then the game.  This is a non-competitive league, which means there is only one inning, and each kid gets to hit and run around the bases and everyone gets to play in the outfield with their team.  It is semi-organized chaos, but oh so fun to watch!

Kayleigh was the last person to hit on her team this weekend, meaning she automatically hit a homerun since all of the kids get to run around the bases.  Here is a link to her time at bat:

Post overload!

So, my blog has not been letting me publish or even save my posts, so I am going to do a huge one today.  You'll have to bear with me and enjoy!

Post #1:  I know the last post was about food, but here is another one.  Erik was gone again one day last week (or was it the week before?!?!) and on those days I don't really cook dinner.  I told the kids that we were going to eat octopus.  Kayleigh did NOT like hearing me say that, and was pleasantly surprised with what she saw on her plate when it was finally presented.  I have to tell you that I remember this from when one of my elementary teachers did it with my class.

Post #2:  Kayleigh wanted Brian and her to wear the same thing one day, so she chose their Gap shirts and khakis for the two of them.  Please don't mind her hair--that's her thing and I'll let her have it however she wants...when we're at home.  :)

Post #3:  Super-cool super heroes!  Need I say more??

Post #4:  Here's another reason why I don't post as much as I should.  I have to fight two kids for the computer!  This is Brian playing Boowa and Kwala. ( www.uptoten.com if you're interested)

Post #5:  Last Friday was the Fairy Tale ball at Kayleigh's school.  They all got to dress up and have a little dance.  I was laughing to myself because Kayleigh had to dance with a boy from another class, and they looked so awkward.  I thought, "Well, Kayleigh just got her first awkward dance out of the way!"  They had a lot of fun, and Brian couldn't wait to get in on the action!

Kayleigh asked me later, "Why was I standing like that??"  I don't know, Kayleigh.

Post #6:  Kayleigh wanted to play tea party upstairs in her room when I realized that we had real tea downstairs.  We gathered all of her tea party stuff and headed down for a "real" one.  I cut up bananas and grapes and we also had some Craisins to snack on with our tea.  We said only big boys and girls could come to the tea party and they had to be polite.  We emphasized the big boys and girls part because Brian started potty training this week!!!  YIPPEE!!!  He's doing really well with just a couple of accidents a day.  I'll take that, especially since I didn't think he would ever want to potty train.

Pancakes for dinner

I think having pancakes for dinner is going to be our new "thing" when Erik has meetings.  He had one this afternoon at church, but even though he was going to be home in time for dinner, Kayleigh still wanted to have pancakes.  I got the idea from Amanda Eikeland to spell out the kids' names when I made the pancakes.  I don't think the letters turned out as well, but Kayleigh thought it was pretty cool.  Brian's name isn't long enough to fill him up, so he had another pancake after eating his letters.  Are you surprised to hear/read that???

Brian had spiky hair from getting syrup in it.  He thought it was hilarious to smile with his eyes closed.  I thought this was the best one of his spikes and his smile.

S'mores

...yummy!  Kayleigh reminded me earlier this week that we were supposed to make s'mores again soon.  We went outside after dinner to make our dessert.  The s'mores were delicious and it was a fun way to finish off our week!

Pajama Day

Today was pajama  day at school.  She was so excited to wear her pajamas, but couldn't decide which to wear, so she combined two pairs.  The nightie is from my parents with the matching nightie for her doll.  Jenna had giving Kayleigh other pajamas with the zebra print pants.  I think it worked out well because it was pretty cool this morning and I didn't have to worry about Kayleigh being too cold.  One of Kayleigh's teachers made home-made waffles for the class, and they got to have applesauce and cinnamon apples, too.  It was a good way to end a short, 2 day school week!
